G & M Investigating Isuzu Engine Failures

G&M represents an owner of a 1999 Isuzu that suffered engine failure at about 80,000 miles as a result of a possible defective design relating to oil flow. This type of design problem raises serious warranty concerns, even though the vehicle was manufactured more than 10 years ago. Our investigation reveals that the problem may exist with all 1999-2002 Isuzu Troopers and Amigos that have this particular engine. If you, or someone you know, owns one of these Isuzus, we would like to speak with you about engine failures related to a lack of oil supply.

G&M Files Class Action in Baltimore County against Home Improvement Company

On June 6, 2007, G&M filed a class action suit against Case Handyman and Remodeling Services, LLC and Case Design/Remodeling, Inc. G&M acted in response to complaints it received from several homeowners who had paid large sums of money for home improvement work, including substantial additions to their homes, only to learn that the contractor would not perform the work and had ostensibly lost or spent all of the money. The contractor traded under the name Case Handyman Services, which has been touted as one of the largest and most reliable home improvement companies in the U.S.

Tom Minton Successful in Court of Appeals

On August 30, the front page of the Daily Record featured an article reporting on Tom Minton’s recent victory in the Court of Appeals on behalf of investors and directors of a bankrupt bio-tech start-up company who had been charged with personal liability for the company’s alleged breach of its lease obligations.  The opinion marks the end of nearly five years of complex litigation between the individuals who controlled Frederick based Intracel Corp. and its former landlord at its Rockville laboratory and office site, ARE Acquisitions, LLP.   After Mr.

Raise a Toast to Ryan’s Daughter

Is it the properly poured Guinness – pull, settle, pull, drink? Is it the Golden Vale Fries with melted cheese and rasher (bacon) bits that the whole family reaches for? Or is it the live Irish music – polished professionals like O’Malley’s March or a pick-up on Sunday nights band playing traditional Irish music for their grog (or Cokes for the younger musicians)? Maybe it’s all these things on a Sunday evening bringing a comfortable close to a busy weekend. Or on a Thursday after work setting the pace for the upcoming days off. Whatever it is, we at Goldman & Minton seem to be taking to the Irish style with ease. And that has moved this pub into our favorite clients column.

Where's Bawlmer's Best Cafe

On "The Avenue (36th Street)" in Hampden, Baltimore's notorious working class neighborhood turned popular kitsch central, there's an enormous pink flamingo towering over the entrance of Café Hon. The restaurant/cultural center is the brainchild of Denise Whiting, who serves up good ole home style cooking like "Much Better Than Mom's" meatloaf, blue plate specials, hot roast beef with mashed potatoes and warm bread pudding.

Mediation: Cost-Effective Successes

In recent years, many of our individual and small-business clients have had their civil litigation issues settled by way of private mediations, rather than trials. Even when the parties use the courts to conduct discovery and engage in motions practice at the beginning of a case, the legal costs of mediation can be less than half of what a trial costs, and if successful, there is no threat of an appeal. Mediation can also be confidential, a factor which is important especially to many small businesses and professionals. The key to a successful mediation is preparation.
